Professional Summary
I love building things with code, but what really drives me is leading and inspiring development teams while staying hands-on with the technology. Over the years, I've found that sweet spot between writing code and guiding teams that create software used by millions. There's nothing quite like turning a tough challenge into a solution that just works, whether it's helping doctors work smarter or making machines run smoother.
In my daily work, I actively use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to accelerate development, explore design ideas, and boost team productivity. Whether it's refining code, brainstorming solutions, or automating small but time-consuming tasks, I enjoy finding practical ways to make AI a natural part of everyday engineering.
Just like when I'm out on the water in my kayak, I help my teams navigate through the ups and downs of complex projects. What keeps me going is diving into code alongside my team members, seeing our ideas come to life, and knowing our work makes things better for the people who use it.
My Journey
I'm a tech explorer who's been navigating the waters of software development for over two decades. Much like my sea kayaking expeditions, my professional path has been about embracing challenges, leading teams through uncharted territories, and discovering innovative solutions along the way.
From building AI-driven healthcare systems to creating platforms that let machines “speak” their issues before they fail, I've always sought projects that make a real difference in people's lives. Now at Tastewise, I'm helping shape AI-powered insights that transform how the food industry understands and responds to consumer trends. My approach blends deep technical expertise with the same resilience and adaptability that come from facing ocean swells in my kayak.
Apps & Side Projects
A few things I've built on the side to scratch my own itches.
J-alendar
I kept wanting to put recurring Jewish-date events into my regular calendar — birthdays, yahrzeits, holidays — and no calendar app could do it. So I built one.
Where Technology Meets Adventure
When I need to clear my head from complex architectures and team challenges, I head to the ocean. But, as with everything else in my life, what began as an escape turned into a pursuit of excellence. For the past 25 years, I've been pushing my limits as a professional sea kayaking guide, leading expeditions through some of the world's most challenging waters, from the rugged coastlines of Tasmania to the icy fjords of Svalbard.
It's funny how my two passions mirror each other. In tech, I push the boundaries of what's possible with code and leadership. On the water, I challenge myself against nature's most demanding conditions. Both require the same mix of planning, quick thinking, and calm under pressure. Whether debugging a complex system or navigating through rough seas, it's about making smart decisions when they matter most.
